Gilwell 24

Gilwell 24 is an activity camp that takes place anually and is an activity based camp run over a 24h period overnight and into the early hours. This camp is normally quite expensive but has a varied range of activities to take part in. Generally no tents are used as no sleep takes place!

DofE

DofE or Duke Of Edinburgh is a scheme we encourage you to take part in as it doubles up for badge work. These weekend trips are normally to cover off the expedition section of your Award and consists of carrying kit for a two day expedition and sleeping in expedition tents.

Summer Camp

Our annual week long camp where only us as a unit will camp together filled with varying activities from climbing and sailing to backwards cooking and pioneering projects. Locations of the camps vary but have been so far been upto Derbyshire and Devon but could be anywhere!

Family Camp

Family camp is a chance for parents to come along on camp... Except when you get to Explorers! normally a chance for us to camp as normal and do some of the activities on site.

Wild Camp

Getting back to the basics this consists of some of the most basic of scouting skills. The aim of the weekend is to teach or polish off Navigation \ Camping \ Walking skills in varried terrain. Cooking on trangia's and treating water to cook with and or drink.

Pioneering Camp

A weekend camp where we normally make as larger pioneering project as possible. Suspension bridge spanning 20 meters over water was our last project, and we aim to build bigger next time!

Activity Camps

These are generally ad-hoc camps that involve a specialist activity otherwise unavalible to us. Ice Climbing, Tunneling, Caving etc for this reason costs can be unusally higher.

Christmas Camp

Our annual Christmas Camp consists of a full 3 course meal with Turkey main all the trimmings with a vegetarian option available to. Other activities take place normally on the campsite we are staying at. Quiz evening with all sorts of games to join in on. Topped off with film pop corn and sweets!

Frostbite

This annual event is for all Dorset Explorers and is competition based upon walking to set route cards planned by yourselves. The route cards are marked for accuracy and points awarded at each waypoint for a challenge at each based is worked out. Two walks take place one you create then a second you complete the following day agin with bases with challenges for which you are marked upon with.
