Explorer Scouting is still a charity and relies on fundraising events and membership to enable us to run. We have a number of ways raising funds for ourselves whether it be fetes, bag packs, gift aid, online promotions or Donations from organistations.
So what sort of things do Explorers well without sounding obvious scouty things; Camping, Climbing, Walking, Sailing, Canoeing, Games and Team building. But Explorers do this and more Zorbing, White Water Canoeing/Kayaking, High Ropes, Talent nights, night hikes, challenge hikes, Geo caching.
Of course there is also all the camping and outdoorsie things we do but to make Scouting more formal alot of the skills that can be taught also qualify towards formal qualifications. The British School of Computing backs all the work we do on our skills.
Duke of Edingburgh scheme or DofE now forms a large part of our program and actively encourage our Explorers to take part and complete the first stage of DofE Bronze and work towards there silver by the time they reach 18.
